CAPTAIN'S REPORT FOR JANUARY 2006

We enjoyed a stunning day at Mossel Bay Golf Club on 29 January 2006 with Mossel Bay, as always, bending backwards to accommodate Nomads in style. It was indeed a pleasure to play with Elias Engels, their Club Captain, and a huge thank you to Elias and his staff for affording us the privelege of their stunning facilities.

With our Past Captain, Tannah, and his lovely wife, Berti currently enjoying a well deserved holiday in Italy, Aldina, Paddy, Helen and June were left on their own to handle the draw and all the schlep that comes with the job. You ladies did us proud as things went smoothly and prize-giving was finished by 17H30. Thank you so much for all the dedication and work behind the scenes.

Golf was played in perfect conditions in a light wind that assisted more than anything else and we saw a magnificent 42 points from Mossel Bay President, Hennie Stander. Well done Hennie, you Siver Salver is on its way.

Welcome to the following new members that were inducted and we hope that you will embrace the spirit of the Club and become active members, participating with enthusiasm in all that the Club offers you:

Phil Beswick
Meyer Du Toit
Kosta Kokkinos
Kattie Meiring

It was a pleasure to award Darrel Nunns with his 5 year tie while Phil Halford reached the milestone of being awarded his 20 year tie, congratulations to both of you.

The SAA Open at The Links saw our Club involved with our members giving up their free and working time to do duty assisting with scoring, leaderboards and spotting. Thank you to all involved, but special mention should be made by the unselfish efforts made by Tannah Harris and Flats Huisamen who did all the arrangements taking the stress that accompanies this mammoth task.

Our next game is on 26 February 2006 at George Golf Club and we would like a huge field as we get criticized on entering “small” fields in George. Please gentleman, enter and keep up with your monthly games.

Our monthly games are the backbone of our organization and we should be looking forward to these. Having said that, we should be having fun in what we do, so please, make an effort in ensuring that your fourball is having a good time. What goes around, comes around.

Joe
