Plett Aug 2007

Monthly game played at the Plettenberg Country Club Golf Course on Sunday 12th August. This game was the day after the Seaboard Trophy, and once again played in tremendous weather. The rain the previous evening softened the course a bit. The course was in really good condition, and a special thanks Norman Slack and his committee and staff for allowing us the priveledge to play on their wonderful golf course. Also, many thanks to our Pink Ladies, Berti, June & Helen for spending a very long day and listening to all the Nomad gripes.

Our thanks to our numerous local and national sponsors for the day,and a very extra special mention to Koos van der Linde of Bogeyman in George for his generous sponsorship of the day. Thanks also to Checkers and Golden Harvest for the Andrew Mentis Hamper.

Boet Gericke was our finesmaster for the day, and his fine of how many players had played 5 games to equal our national chairmans visits to us was a good one. I am sure that there were quite a few S/Cape guys that should have paid in.

As it was our National Chairman, Glen Dalton, official visit to the club, we were addressed by him. It was a pleasure having him there, and we sincerely hope that he left well satisfied that we are alive and well and fulfill the nomad spirit.

Glen was accompanied by his wife Gail, and if this pic is any proof, we could have a new "Pink Lady".

Seaboard 2007

It is Saturday, 11th August 2007, just before sunrise, and the first competitors of Seaboard arrive and register with our pink ladies, who have been there since 06h30.
The Border team led by Roger Weyers is getting ready to defend the trophy against Rob Jones' Western Province, Frank van Zyl's Boland, John Richards' Southern Cape and Dave Pearson's Eastern Cape.

The tournament is an annual event, and this year the trophy is contested for at the Goose Valley Golf Club in Plettenberg Bay. Other than the current captains, we were honoured to have our National Chairman, Glen Dalton, join in the tournament. It was also a pleasure to have our National Vice Captain, National Junior Vice Chairman and National Immediate Past Chairman namely Alf Duncan, Ken Walker and Ken Haldane as competitors to the event. There were also numerous ex-captains and national chairmen in the field.

This event is co-ordinated by the JVC's of the 5 clubs and hosted by Southern Cape.
Thanks to all of them.

Natex Visit Aug 2007

It was a pleasure to hear that our National Chairman, Glen Dalton was going to visit us on our Seaboard Weekend. Plans were put into gear and our captain, John suggested a sundowner boat trip as the opening to the weekend. It was accepted and on Friday, 10th August 2007, our committee and pink ladies met Glen and his family at the Knysna Waterfront, and boarded the John Benn at 16h45 for a sundowner cruise to the Knysna Lagoon Heads with cocktails.

In the distance, we see our destination, the entrance of the heads.

Some of the guys out on the outer decks lapping up the great views.

Ok, it is now time to party.
Terry, Pieter and Les coaxing us to join them at the bar.

Paddy reunites with our faithful "Pink Ladies", Berti, Sandra and Helen.
Yes, I'm sure they will join the guys at the bar.

The better half's of our past national chairman and national chairman discussing what they will do for the weekend while the boys lose little white balls.

The journey is about to end, and Tannah, Glen, Gerry and John wonder why the Bells has disappeared !

And after 2 hours of talking, eating and drinking, Ashley plucks up enough courage and scolds Ken for losing the light blue.
